Who Are We?

We are Arizona Jewish Business Network – a Jewish Entrepreneurial Chavurah that is dedicated to enhancing your business efforts through local, meaningful Jewish relationships.  This, in its essence, is what sets us apart from other business networks, other breakfast/lunch/happy hour groups – we seek to serve the community by developing connections with each other, assisting in the development or promotion of our businesses, and engaging in philanthropic acts of tzedakah.

Jewish Moment?

Jacob discussed his rabbi’s sermon.  Moses identified as a nation, saying “I am a nation”, this relates to us in the present moment – when we say I AM, you are defining yourself.  Rabbi cautions us not to define ourselves with our mental illnesses – we have symptoms of bipolar disorder, we are NOT bipolar.  If you identify with your illness you will have a harder time to heal or endure from your hardship.

Business Moment?

Heather Rykowski shared 6 Ways To Improve Your Networking Skills In 2021.  Networking is marketing – yourself, your uniqueness, what you stand for.

  1. Network across multiple platforms, remember not everyone uses the same format.
  2. Listen Actively – we are given one mouth and two ears.
  3. Exude Optimism – helps you to be more likable, more memorable, conveys confidence.
  4. Use Humor – just be sure to keep it clean and relatable.
  5. Attend Networking Events – soon we will be able to meet in person!!
  6. Interview People – If you contribute to any kind of blog or conducting industry research, you can make new connections through interviews.

Announcements:

We are attempting to create fresh new content for our website as well as our Facebook page.  Please consider contributing, as this can also help to drive digital consumers to your business.  Do you have recipes to share?  Are you an avid restaurant enthusiast?  Do you know where the best hiking hotspots are in the valley?  Do you blog?  Send all info to Michele Leon.

It is time to contribute to our quarterly dues – $80 helps JBN to fund our local philanthropies as well as some of the online advertising we do to recruit interesting members such as yourself.  Please be on the lookout for a Zelle invoice from Lorrie Feld.

Presenter: Bruce Newman, CMIT Solutions

He opened CMIT Solutions 12 years ago, after working for Anderson Consulting.  Bruce opened his business hoping to focus on the community where he lives, vs. traveling to large businesses.  CMIT Solutions has over 240 offices across the nation, and he can leverage this network to assist clients out of state who require onsite assistance.  As a small business owner, he finds it helpful to be able to leverage the expertise of 800 technicians, 600-700 engineers, etc.  This way he can consult to meet the needs of his clients.  CMIT Solutions monitors their clients 24/7 as a managed service provider, often aware of data troubles prior to the opening of the business day.  Bruce cautions us that many states are developing their own compliance regulations in addition to the national ones (HIPAA, FERPA, etc.).  Bruce shared some CyberSecurity Tips, which he has distributed separately through email.
